“He’s magic… you know!” A significant part of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium shook as Spurs supporters started another singing tribute to Mauricio Pochettino. Of course, it was not just a tribute, but a plea for help. Admittedly, this was before Igor Tudor led the club to points against Liverpool and a consolation victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, but the supporters are clear in their demand: Get Pochettino! Signals are now so “certain” that supporters see it as certain that Poch will lead the club from the coming season.

Around New Year’s, when Thomas Frank still had time and things could turn around, the Tottenham job was still attractive. Halfway through March, potential coaching candidates are sitting on the fence to see how things go. If there is relegation, it is out of the question anyway. With barely survival, it is waiting to see which of the best players leave, and whether the right players choose to move to Tottenham. Mauricio Pochettino is not in this category.

Spurs supporter John Wenham, who has good connections at the club, believes the Argentine would still take the job, even if they end up in the Championship. Pochettino remains the preferred choice among fans, having made such a big impression during his first spell in north London.

In an interview with Tottenham News, Wenham is in no doubt: “I really think, and it sounds crazy, that he would still be here if we were in the Championship, and he would have great pleasure in leading us straight back up and kind of cementing himself with hero status among the fans. I really think he would still come back and I’m 100 percent sure he’ll be our next manager,” the Spurs supporter said.

Pochettino stated in 2024: “I would like to come back (Tottenham) one day. It will always be a special club for me.” Then came the thinly veiled job application through the BBC in December last year: -… I want to win both the Premier League and the Champions League. We were close when we played against Tottenham. I want to achieve it. I’m still young, and I have the energy, experience, and motivation to try again in the future.”

Caughtoffside’s sources reported in December 2025 that Tottenham management have Pochettino as the strongest candidate to become the next permanent Tottenham manager. We are convinced supporter John Wenham is right. Pochettino will return.
