Summer McIntosh is a 16-year-old swimmer from Canada and a two-time world champion in the long course. The world has now hailed her as the great hope of Canadian swimming after breaking four world records in just one week.
During the ongoing Canadian Swimming Trials event, Summer McIntosh broke four world records in just one week – two senior and two junior.
After breaking the senior world record in the 400m freestyle earlier in the week with a time of 3:56.08, Summer McIntosh also broke the world record in the 400m individual medley with a time of 4:25.87. The record in the 400m individual medley has remained unbroken since 2016, when it was set by Hungarian swimmer Katina Hosszu at the Rio Games.
“Honestly, I never thought I’d break the world record,” McIntosh admitted after breaking Hosszu’s record.
Now Summer McIntosh will start preparing for the world championships and the Olympics in Paris.
