Erling Haaland is playing this season as the world’s best striker, and has predictably been linked to both Real Madrid and Barcelona. In the Bundesliga, Harry Kane is doing the same thing, the link to Barcelona has also appeared in the Spanish media. Two striker giants the Barcelona president would have gone to great lengths to be able to sign, but in the Barca camp there is a teenager who has a completely different favorite. This teenager has become so powerful that club president Laporta listens when the boy speaks.

Lamine Jamal is Barcelona’s biggest and most important asset. Gigantic Barcelona salary, sponsorship deals and advertising revenue have made the teenager one of the world’s ten highest-paid players. A player who naturally has the right to participate in sports at Barca. According to El Nacional, Yamal is a driving force to ensure that Robert Lewandowski is not squeezed out.

The 37-year-old has not been a guaranteed starter for Barca this season, Ferran Torres has taken this role in several games. However, the Polish legend scored a hat-trick in his last game against Celta Vigo, last season the veteran scored an impressive 42 goals.

According to the Spanish media, Yamal believes that Lewandowski’s presence makes it easier for him, with opponents paying less attention to the obvious threat he poses on the wings. The rivals are aware of the need to try and keep one of the best strikers of their generation in check, which means that Yamal will have more time and space to do his thing. Both Haaland and Kane can stand for this, but a special relationship has been built up between the Spaniard and Lew.

The Spanish media claims the relationship between two players at opposite ends of their respective careers is “strengthened both on and off the pitch”. Yamal is said to see the former Bayern Munich star as a mentor, and there is a good understanding between the two as they cause problems for La Liga and Champions League opponents.

Yamal now wants to see Lewandowski stay with him beyond the summer of 2026, when he is expected to be sent out of Barca with a contract expiry. Yamal is said to believe that there is no one who is “better suited to continue advancing his development”, while at the same time providing much-needed leadership.

If Barcelona’s biggest asset wants Lewandowski, then it will probably be Lewandowski. Then there is no room for a Haaland or Kane in the next few years.
