Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is reportedly willing to consider a move away from the club, with the Saudi Pro League as a possible destination.

Shaw’s time in Manchester marked by injuries

Shaw has made 287 official appearances since joining United from Southampton in 2014. But the 30-year-old’s nine years at the club have been marked by injury problems – especially in the 2024/25 season, when he only made 12 appearances.

Uncertain future

Although Shaw is on United’s US tour, there is a lot of uncertainty about his long-term future at the club. According to Sky Sports, he is “ready to listen to offers”, despite having two years left on his contract.

The decision is due to concerns about playing time under Ruben Amorim, with the Saudi league mentioned as a realistic possibility.

Battle for space

Amorim has several options at left-back:

  • Patrick Dorgu seems to be the first qualifier
  • Diogo Dalot and Diego Leon are also relevant

Shaw can also compete as a centre-back, but there he will have to contend with Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez and Ayden Heaven.

Despite experience, Amorim cannot promise him a permanent place.
