It’s no secret that Real Madrid want Erling Braut Haaland and that the Spanish giant is very high on the dream list of the Norwegian goal machine.
So far, Real Madrid have chosen to wait for Haaland’s contract with Manchester City to expire, but now that Vinicius Jr is more and more likely to leave the club next year, the “plan to wait” is out of the question.

Fichajes reports that Real Madrid are preparing a €200 million bid for Haaland in 2025. Vinicius Jr’s contract expires in 2027 and he is not interested in extending. The Brazilian seems open to a new challenge and is also upset that he didn’t win the Ballon d’Or.
Vinicius Jr is wanted by the Saudi Pro League, as well as Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
As for Haaland, he has been tipped to leave Man City at the end of the season for a number of reasons. For starters, Haaland never intended to stay at City for the long term as he joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.
This is now his third season, and he feels that he will have achieved everything he wants.
Secondly, Pep Guardiola is set to leave City at the end of the season when his contract expires – with little prospect of renewal.
Thirdly, Man City are currently involved in the “Trial of the Century” and are battling 115 charges for alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules. Heavy penalties – including relegation – are very possible. Haaland realises that City are likely to be severely punished and this will push him to move further.
Haaland scored an incredible 90 goals in 98 games in his first two seasons at Man City, winning every major trophy in the club game, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League.
He has also started the current season in brilliant form, scoring 11 goals in 10 Premier League games.
Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta admitted earlier this year that Haaland sees a future move to Madrid as something of a dream.
“It’s the Premier League, and it’s Real Madrid, and Real Madrid has something of its own that makes it the dreamland for the players,” Pimenta said.
“Madrid keeps this magic going. It doesn’t have the league competition, but it does have the Champions League.
“In my agency, we try to make a plan. We have to make a plan. We must have a goal. Maybe we won’t achieve it, but if we don’t know where we’re going, we’re definitely not going to get there.”

Haaland release clause
Haaland has a release clause that came into effect in the summer of 2024 that is worth €200 million.
According to The Athletic, this release clause is only valid for clubs outside the Premier League.
It is also reported that the release clause will be reduced every year after it is activated in 2024.
Haaland reportedly has a second clause for the release of minimum fees that will be activated in the summer of 2025 that stands at 175 million euros. It will then decline again in 2026.
If true, it means Madrid could sign Haaland for less than €200 million in 2025.
And the salary, not a penny less than 10 million a week!
