Manchester United are planning at least two signings for January 2025. – The Red Devils are off to their worst start ever in a Premier League season under Erik ten Hag, and the Dutchman lost his job as a result. Ruben Amorim will start in his new role on Monday and the excitement is palpable.
It may not be an immediate improvement, but Amorim is deservedly considered one of the smartest coaching minds in football.

Amorim prefers to play with a back-three system, but Manchester United’s roster is not built for such a style of play. Bargains will therefore be a necessity and the Portuguese will have to have a big influence on who arrives despite only carrying the title of ‘head coach’ rather than ‘manager’.
According to Sky Germany, the first major moves could be realized as early as January.
Reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Manchester United are looking to complete at least two deals in the winter window. Firstly, the Red Devils are aiming to add a “reasonable” striker to their ranks, although specific targets were not revealed.
In addition, Man Utd want to sign a central midfielder who can act as No. 8, and on that front, the journalist mentions Bayern Munich’s outcast Leon Goretzka as one of the options being considered.
Manchester United were keen on the 29-year-old this summer, and he “is still being closely monitored.” But despite hardly playing, the German is reluctant to leave.
Bayern winger Leroy Sane is also mentioned as a player on Manchester United’s radar, although an exit in January is considered difficult.
