When Per-Mathias Høgmo had to pack himself out of Japan with his samurai sword in his suitcase, just six months after he was brought in to lead Urawa Red Diamonds, smiles came in Swedish football. A shame for the Norwegian, but a great opportunity for Swedish clubs who could now contact the coach who led Häcken to a surprising league gold in Allsvenskan.

Høgmo is linked to several clubs, Djurgården seems extra active.

The proud club recently fired the coaches and replaced them with substitute Roberth Björknesjö. Now work is being done to bring in the coach who can lead the club all the way to the top. The previous series gold came back in 2019.

Sports director Bosse Andersson is of course asked about the process and Høgmo.

“We have probed the terrain based on the type of coach we want. We don’t have “sharp” discussions with any coach now. It is more of an exploratory period, but it should be ready this side of the year. We have come a long way in terms of probing the terrain. Then there are coaches with a slightly different profile, but we are quite clear about what our requirements profile is, the sports director begins to Fotbollskanalen.

Andersson does not escape the question of Høgmo.

Have you been in contact with him and checked the situation?
“Regardless of whether it is Högmo or who it is, we feel confident in the probing we have done.

Is he on your list?
–list… I don’t want to comment on any list,” Andersson replies and smiles.

Høgmo is highly topical, if we are to interpret the answer and the smile.
