We have seen pictures and videos from Ruben Amorim’s first week and a half as Manchester United coach. The general feeling is the relieved mood. There are smiles, hugs and jokes. No one thinks Sporting’s successful coach who toyed with Manchester City in the Champions League isn’t tough, but with the stone-faced Ten Hag, devoid of charisma, there has clearly been a big miss on the training ground. When Amorim even makes grumpy Gary Neville lower his shoulders and smile, then much-needed positive energy has sprinkled throughout the club.

Ruben Amorim has taken over one of the world’s toughest coaching jobs and oozes confidence, joy and optimism after working with the Man United players for just over a week.

-I already had conversations with clubs. I felt that this is my place. I think it was the right club at the right time for me. It was very tough to leave Sporting in the middle of the season and leave your guys. but I had to do it,” the United manager begins in Neville’s interview for the club.

-But I was so happy, of course. You can see it in every interaction I have. At first it was a bit overwhelming, but after five minutes you start thinking about the club, the team, the players and how you play, so it was quite fun,” says the genius coach.

After Neville’s interview with Amorim before the Portuguese’s Premier League debut, United supporters were quick to jump into the comments section.

One fan wrote on social media, “You can feel the passion of Neville and Amorims, the smiles say it all.”

Another said: “You can feel the tension inside him, this is what the players want to see, they want a coach who is excited to lead them.”

A third observed, “Haven’t seen Nev with such a big smile on his face.”
