While there are some positive signals that Casemiro is a better fit under Ruben Amorim than ex-manager Erik ten Hag, most believe that the train has gone for the defensive midfielder.
The Brazilian, who was signed from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, was one of the few who was not from the Netherlands or had connections to Ajax. Amorim, who is probably now preparing a motivational speech to his players ahead of tomorrow’s game at Portman Road at Ipswich on Sunday, wants a Serie A star to replace Casemiro in January.

The 39-year-old has probably been told that it is difficult to sell Casemiro because of his impressive salary and even more impressive parachute.
The Portuguese began his new role on Monday 11 November and was greeted by a clutch of bosses at the Carrington Training Centre.
This week he has been monitoring the training and seemed to be taking part in some of the sessions himself. Some fans have been paying close attention to the training footage released by Clue as they try to put together his first possible starting XI.
Only ten first-team players were available for his first session due to several being out representing their countries. One player who was present all week, however, was Brazilian Casemiro.
Casemiro has often been criticised and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has not held back: “Leave football before football leaves you” after Casemiro performed poorly during a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in March 2024.
He has Amorims in his planning, but would rather not have to. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg had the following comment about a replacement. They are “discussing” and “considering” the club Atalanta midfielder Ederson (25), who has impressed in the Italian top flight recently.
Ederson was a key part of Atalanta’s 2023-24 Europa League triumph – starting against Bayer Leverkusen in the 3-0 final win in Dublin, Ireland. He has continued his impressive form this period, having played 17 times for the Italians, who are second in Serie A behind leaders Napoli.
Sources in Italy, according to I, have suggested that Man City could be interested in the player “open to a transfer”.
It is reported by Calciomercato that a transfer fee of around €60 million could be enough for Atalanta to part ways with the player.
