Jarrad Branthwaite was so heavily linked to Old Trafford for the next six months that United supporters almost expected the 22-year-old to pull on the red shirt this summer. Everton refused to budge in the negotiations on price, Man United entered the new season with Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt as additions to the central defence.

Real and Ancelotti desperately need support in central defence after a flurry of injuries and could make a push to sign the 22-year-old as early as January. Galletti says the English clubs are gearing towards signing this summer. If Real Madrid make a bid of 70 million euros+, Everton are willing to sell Branthwaite.
