Real Madrid have reportedly taken an important step in their pressure on Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold is carefully considering his options with the Reds now offering a five-year renewal of his current contract.
The England international is out of contract at the end of the season.

Confidence is high in both Madrid and on Merseyside over their ability to convince the 26-year-old to accept their rival offer.

According to Talksport, Real Madrid want to maintain a respectful relationship with Liverpool, and they have formally told the Premier League leaders about their incoming offer for the defender.

Alexander-Arnold could open transfer talks in January with Real Madrid if he wants an exit. Many believe December is therefore the last month where Liverpool can get an extension. Trent Alexander-Arnold has played for Liverpool all his life.

No update is expected from either club until the end of December, talks are still ongoing with Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk.
