Until 2016, Ruud van Nistelrooy was chiseled into the Premier League history books with the most consecutive games. Then came the youngster Jamie Vardy and took the record for a club no one, absolutely no one thought could win the world’s toughest league. Eight, nine years later, Van Nistelrooy is the boss of the same Vardy.

Back in 2015, Jamie Vardy was unstoppable, scoring in 11 Premier League games in the season where Leicester under Claudio Ranieri claimed the Premier League title. With Vardy’s scoring feat, United legend Van Nistelrooy became a record poorer.

This week, the Dutchman takes on the job as Leicester manager, where he started the first press conference with “Jamie Vardy and I have a problem”.

“Of course, it’s a problem that he broke my record. I told him immediately. I said that we have a big problem that we have to get out of the world before we can start together,” Van Nistelrooy begins with a smile.

“At the time, I wrote and wished him the best. Now we are here nine years later. It’s strange how things can develop sometimes, but it’s a good story,” says the new Leicester manager.
