When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, it was as one of the Premier League’s best tacklers. The right-back showed a raw ability to break opponents’ attacks and remained one of Solskjaer’s favourite players. When Erik ten Hag entered the scene, it was Wan-Bissaka’s offensive weaknesses that were highlighted. Now the situation has turned around in a strange way.
Ten Hag expected a full-back who could drive forward in attack. The lack of offensive fibre and technique of Wan-Bissaka sent the right-back to the bench. This summer came the inevitable exit from Manchester United, the next destination being West Ham.

Here, Wan-Bissaka has been praised for what he was weakest at United, while the strength of the defense is criticized by the coach.
In the last two Premier League games, Wan-Bissaka has scored twice, as many as Man United got from the 27-year-old in 190 appearances. However, manager Julen Lopetegui is less happy with his job on the other side of midfield.
“I feel he can do better. He has to defend better. I’m happy with his offensive play, but he can – and must – defend better. If he does that, he will raise the level significantly,” Julen Lopetegui said according to the Evening Standard.
