Barcelona are about to be unleashed on the transfer market again, which will potentially allow them to land No.1 target Erling Braut Haaland as the club has pulled yet another financial lever.

President Joan Laporta is working to strike a deal worth around €200 million that will see VIP seats at the refurbished Camp Nou sold for a period of 20 years, working on a model previously used by Real Madrid.

Sport reports that the deal is expected to be finalised before the start of the January transfer window, which promises to revolutionise Barcelona’s season.

Barcelona will be able to sign Dani Olmo for the second half of the season in the most immediate boost for the club. (touched on a crisis rule this autumn) This new influx of money means the Blaugrana could sign him to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

In the somewhat longer term, this deal allows Barcelona to be more competitive in the transfer market and brings previously unattainable stars such as Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Nico Williams from Athletic Club back onto their radar

.

Haaland has reportedly become the primary summer target for the Blaugrana, who are looking for a long-term replacement for veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

However, the Pole’s electric form this season could see Barca instead go for long-time target Nico Williams, who was close to joining the club in 2024. He is a good friend of Lamine Yamal, and is available for a good price of €58 million, although a relatively mediocre season by his high standards casts some doubt on whether the Catalans still want him.

Barca have struggled for several years with financial problems due to astronomical debts they have struggled to control. This has forced the club into a difficult period where LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules limited them to spending just 33% of what they brought in via player sales.

However, this new lever will allow the Catalans to spend everything they get in.

For example, if a player was sold under the previous rules for 100 million euros, only 33 million euros could be reinvested in the transfer market. Now Barcelona will be able to spend as much as 100 million euros on new signings.
