Barcelona hijacked Bayern Munich transfer where the deal has “practically been finalized”

Barcelona could have already secured their first signing in 2025 in a move that would hijack a long-term transfer planned by Bayern Munich. – Barca have started making plans to strengthen the squad after activating yet another financial “lever”, allowing them to register new signings and ease their financial concerns.

There had initially been fears that the summer signing of Dani Olmo’s registration status for the second half of the season would be in jeopardy due to Barcelona’s struggle with La Liga’s wage rules, but the club is now set to raise around €200 million by selling VIP seats at the refurbished Camp Nou.

And the La Liga leaders have apparently wasted no time in using their new freedom, with Jijantes claiming that a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is “practically complete”.

Tah is out of contract at the end of the season and had been heavily linked with a move to Bayern in the summer, but the 28-year-old is now looking to join Barca after club director Deco met with the player’s representatives in Germany.

Barcas is said to have had a long-standing desire for Tah, and his availability on a free transfer prompted Deco to fly to Cologne in a meeting that left both parties “very happy”.

Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and was instrumental in their first Bundesliga win last season, but the German international has been reluctant to extend his stay with the champions.

Bayern had reached a personal agreement to sign Tah in the summer, but they were unable to reach a deal with Leverkusen over a fee, and the deal eventually collapsed, but there was optimism that they would instead sign the defender when his contract expires.

Instead, Barca have reportedly sealed an important signing on a free transfer to provide competition and quality in defence, having seen a number of injuries in the area this season.

Barca are now expected to continue with more signings next year after resolving some of their financial problems, with a striker like Erling Haaland believed to be high on their list of priorities next summer.
