24-year-old Angel Gomes has grown up since leaving Manchester United on a free transfer to Lille in 2020. By then, the player had worked his way up the academy since he was six, made his debut in the first team in 2017 and signed a professional contract. Then it said stop. Gomes never managed to play his way into regular playing time, but his development in Ligue 1 has been impressive.

There was some talk this summer of a move to United, but Angel’s style of play and temperament did not suit manager Erik ten Hag. Ruben Amorim, on the other hand, loves what he sees. Transfermarkt has steadily increased Angel Gomes’ valuation since he left Old Trafford.
In September, Gomes stated when asked if he would like to return to Old Trafford, with a “It will be hard to say no..”.
According to TBR Football, Manchester United are in talks with Gomes’ representatives and are clearing the way for negotiations.
He is 24 years young, with an English passport, is part of the national team squad, knows the club, has gained solid experience abroad, dreams of playing regularly at Manchester United and comes as a free agent. Sounds like most of the boxes in the Man United profile can be ticked.
