After three and a half years at English side Manchester United, the now 20-year-old attacking midfielder was sold in the last transfer window of the winter to SV Werder Bremen, where there have so far been three official matches in the German Bundesliga.
Before leaving for England, the then 16-year-old Hansen-Aarøen had already achieved seven official appearances in the first team of his childhood club Tromsø IL. At Manchester United, he made 47 appearances for the under-23 team in the so-called Premier League two.
AaB’s sports director James Gow says to Aalborg’s pages:
“The lease agreement with Isak Hansen-Aarøen is a reinforcement of our squad, and we expect that Isak will be able to contribute with tougher competition from day one.
“Isak is a creative midfielder with an offensive mindset. He is confident on the ball, aggressive and dynamic, as well as passing and dribbling and wants to challenge his direct opponent, so we think he fits well into our playing philosophy,” says James Gow.
Isak Hansen-Aarøen has so far played a total of 44 youth international matches for Norway and was last in action on 19 November, when he played 90 minutes on the pitch for the under-21 national team, which defeated Finland in a European Championship qualifier.
“We have had a good dialogue for a while, and from the first meeting with AaB, I have had a very positive impression of the club. The club has presented me with a good plan, the conditions are very good and it’s a nice stadium, so I’m really looking forward to starting with my new teammates in a few weeks and playing football in front of many fans in the stands.
“It’s a talented, young squad that I think I can fit in well, and I hope to be able to contribute to the team with some football worth watching, so that we can win a lot of games and play attractive football. As a player, I want to dribble, find the good passes, create chances and of course score goals, and I hope to be able to show that to AaB’s fans, who I look forward to meeting, says Isak Hansen-Aarøen.
Isak Hansen-Aarøen trains for the first time with his new teammates in AaB on January 9.
