It’s no surprise that Wolverhampton manager Gary O’Neil is sacked, after all, the Premier League club have only managed to pick up 9 points from 16 rounds.

After yesterday’s home defeat at Molineux Stadium 1 – 2 against Ipswich Town, the patience of the board was over. After the game, the manager was frustrated by a number of player errors: “That kind of error just can’t happen at this level”

All media outlets such as Talksport, Sky Sports, The Sun, The Telehraph and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, report that manager Gary O’Neil has been sacked after Saturday’s heavy loss to bottom rivals Ipswich.

O’Neil took over as manager of Wolves in the summer of 2023, and last season led the club to 14th place in the Premier League. He has previously had a background as head coach at Bournemouth.

Wolves will thus be the third Premier League club this autumn to sack a head coach. In the past, Manchester United got rid of Erik ten Hag, while Leicester City sacked Steve Cooper. Ruben Amorim and Ruud van Nistelrooy have come in as replacements.

Previously, Talksport stated that Wolves are considering bringing in Graham Potter as a replacement for O’Neil. Potter is still out of action since leaving Chelsea in the spring of 2023.
