Sweden’s Victor Lindelöf is almost a forgotten man at Old Trafford. – There is little to suggest that his contract that expires in the summer will be extended. – In order to get something in return, Manchester United are preparing a sale as soon as the winter window opens.

Lindelöf has only played eight games and a total of 295 minutes so far this season, and the 30-year-old has primarily spent time on the bench and treatment table, although he did return from a recent setback in the triumphant Manchester Derby on Sunday.

He came on in the closing minutes at the same time as Manchester United turned the game around and won 2 – 1 over Manchester City.

It was the defender’s first game under his former Benfica teammate Ruben Amorim, but their reunion is unlikely to last long. According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United are open to cashing in on the centre-back in January in what will be their last chance to generate any kind of fee for their €35 million signing.

Lindelöf himself is also willing to move on to the winter and he has no shortage of suitors, with eight clubs specifically mentioned in the report. His admirers include Premier League clubs Newcastle, West Ham, and Everton, as well as a number of high-profile Serie A clubs.

There is a lot of interest in Lindelöf

The Magpies and the Hammers will be well aware of Lindelöf’s qualities after his 267 total appearances for United in recent years, so he makes sense as a tried and tested option to give both of these teams more depth.

The 30-year-old also has admirers in Italy, where AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina are all keeping an eye on his situation.

Manchester United are trying to use the January window to raise funds for potential reinforcements, the club must operate within the framework of financial rules, so sales are needed before signings can be made.

The report claims that Lindelof could bring in Man Utd as much as €8 million in January, although he could just as well wait until the summer and leave the club after eight years for free.
