Manchester United have been linked with a transfer for one of Norway’s biggest talents for a while and now there are more and more hints that it will happen as early as January.
One of Europe’s most sought-after young talents has received a Manchester United-related Secret Santa gift from his teammates. Ruben Amorim has been tasked with “maximising the untapped potential” of his squad as he appears to be operating on a more modest budget compared to Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United’s new manager will have the opportunity to rebuild, but it will require a quick sale, according to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, who suggests that United bosses have agreed that over half of the players in the squad are “serious candidates” for sale.
Last month, it was suggested that United are ‘unlikely to be particularly active’ in the January transfer window unless an opportunity presents itself. That said, a report from TBR Football claims that United are “confident” of signing highly sought-after Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan in January for a fee of around £10 million.
For Manchester United, that sum comes into the cheap category.
Back in November, it was claimed that United are “working to try and make a deal” for the 17-year-old, who helped Rosenborg to fourth place in the Eliteserien with eight goals and seven assists.
And now, rumours of a potential move to Old Trafford have intensified after Nypan received a Manchester United-related Secret Santa gift.
Rosenborg’s official YouTube channel posted footage of the squad exchanging secret Christmas gifts, and Nypan was clearly happy to receive a 2025 calendar featuring some of United’s first-team players
The teenager can be seen smiling while looking at the calendar, which includes Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Andre Onana on the cover.

A number of clubs have reportedly expressed interest in signing Nypan, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
But the talented midfielder is a big fan of the Reds. I’ve always been a Manchester United fan,” Nypan told TV2 last year. “Then of course it’s Real Madrid. I’m a big [Cristiano] Ronaldo fan. It’s very unrealistic, but it’s the dream.”
Previously, the Norwegian under-21 international has been compared to Martin Ødegaard by football expert Jesper Mathisen.
“Sverre Nypan is extremely exciting, and I get a bit of the same feeling as when I saw Martin Odegaard break through as a boy,” he said after watching him play against Hearts in a Conference League qualifier.
Whether he can step up and recreate Ødegaard by playing in the Premier League is another matter. Time will tell.
