Last summer Luis Diaz was linked to Barcelona on multiple occasions, but it quickly became apparent that he was outwith Barcelona’s price range. However rumours about the Colombian’s future have resurfaced due to his contract situation.

The Colombian network Antena 2 reported an important development regarding the future of Luis Diaz, the star of the Colombian national team and the English team Liverpool.

Diaz will go into the final year of his contract next summer at Liverpool, and seemingly making any advances is proving difficult. The Colombian is keen for a much larger salary, and Liverpool are yet to offer him that. Liverpool’s negotiations with Diaz have faltered.

Diaz is considered one of the important elements in the Liverpool squad and has a great role in his team’s distinguished results this season.

According to Antena 2, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are the two sides that would be most interested in Diaz, while MD add AC Milan to the fold. The Catalan giants would be his preferred destination out of the three though – he would also fit Hansi Flick’s approach.

After realizing that his renewal with Liverpool is not progressing as hoped, Colombian Luis Díaz has expressed his openness to a potential move to FC Barcelona. The Catalans see him as an intriguing option for the right flank of their attack.

Since arriving at Liverpool in January 2022, Díaz has not had his contract modified. While his status within the team has significantly increased, the player continues to receive the same salary. In fact, to this day, he is the lowest-paid starter in the squad.

Negotiations have not progressed along the desired path. So much so that, according to recent reports, the striker has started to seriously consider the possibility of changing his environment. The player has even shown a willingness to join another club that he is very fond of, FC Barcelona.

Currently valued at around €80 million, the Colombian forward is seen as a versatile attacking player who can strengthen Barcelona’s offensive lineup in various positions.

Despite his appeal, the price tag is still beyond Barcelona’s current budget, especially as the club continues to manage its financial constraints.

However, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has expressed admiration for Diaz’s adaptability, and the club has been monitoring his situation for a while now.

While Barcelona seem to be a strong contender for Diaz’s signature, they are not the only club interested. Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan have also been linked with a move for the Colombian international.

The coming weeks will be critical in determining where Diaz’s future lies, as Liverpool may propose new terms to try to keep him at Anfield.

Since Arne Slot took over as Liverpool manager, Diaz has become a key figure in the team, contributing 9 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances.

His form has made him an important part of Liverpool’s success, so it remains to be seen how genuine the rumours about his potential move to Barcelona are.

Regardless, the situation is one to watch closely, with significant developments expected in the near future.
