You may remember the Uruguayan player in the shirt of Chelsea and Tottenham, or as Brighton manager, 2009-13. Now, Poyet has sat on the plane to a brand new experience in the league former Manchester Uninted star Jesse Lingard “fled to”.

Since his coaching job at Sunderland, 2013-15, Poyet has wandered around from Chinese football to guest stays in Bordeaux, guest stays in Chile, then national team coach for Greece until this year. Here, the contract expired. Poyet has now found another unconventional path in his coaching career.

On Monday, Poyet signed with Jeonbuk Hyundai in the South Korean league. The club has won the championship nine times, but has to go back to 2009 for the last title.

“Asia and the K-League is a new challenge for me as a coach. Together with the players and the fans, I want to make sure it ends with success,” Gus Poyet told the club’s website.

We bring some reminiscences from cool Poyet scoring in the Chelsea shirt.
