Like so many others who have left Old Trafford, Swedish Anthony Elanga has really taken off his next club. After Nottingham Forest brought in Nuno Espírito Santo last year, the Reds have gotten better and better. An important reason is the 31-year-old right winger who they bought from Manchester United last summer for 17.5 million euros.

Tonight he won another game for Nottingham Forest. Two weeks ago, he scored against Aston Villa. And on “Boxing Day”, Anthony Elanga became a great hero again at home at The City Ground. He scored the only goal of the game!

Tottenham would try to bounce back from the 3-6 defeat of Liverpool before Christmas. Well, it didn’t happen, but it wasn’t an overrun in any way. After 28 minutes, Anthony Elanga gave Nottingham Forest the lead. This was the Swede’s third goal in three straight games. The 22-year-old was set free by Morgan Gibbs-White – and he made no mistake when he angled in the 1-0 goal for Nottingham Forest.

  • Brilliantly done by Forest, but sloppy by Spurs. They gave the ball away,” said ex-player Michael Dawson in the Soccer Special.

“Three goals in three games for Elanga. It is the first time in his career that he has shown such form. He’s enjoying himself at Forest,” said Sky Sports reporter Patrick Rowe on Sky Sports.

Tottenham made four changes in the second half, when Lucas Bergvall, James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Timo Wener came on to try and equalise against Forest.

But they never really came close, even though they dominated possession. Forest held off – and Anthony Elanga became the big hero again. A couple of weeks ago, he famously scored against Aston Villa at home.

Nottingham Forest are third in the Premier League after the win, I’ll admit that I wasn’t close to tipping them that high up in the table. “It’s not about who has the ball the most, it’s about who wins the game. The coach always has to be ready to adapt the game, and we did,” Elanga told Amazon Prime after the game.
