As a player, Patrick Kluivert was one of the Netherlands’ greats, with six years in the Barcelona shirt at the peak of his career. After retiring in 2008, Kluivert embarked directly on his coaching career. The assistant role and the occasional temporary job have characterized this part of his career, but the job as manager of Barcelona’s academy says the 48-year-old has a lot to offer. The first real head coaching job came at Adana Demirspor, this lasted exactly 20 games. On Wednesday, the confirmation that Kluivert is back in the ring came at a good distance from the European media.
Kluivert was fired at the Turkish club in early December with a tenacious 5th place in the Süper Lig, now the Dutchman will lead Indonesia’s national team, placed 127th in FIFA’s rankings.
The contract runs until 2027, the first test that Indonesia’s national team coach will be against Australia, on March 20.
We wish Kluivert the best of luck with the task and aim for more success than in Turkey. As a former assistant coach on the national teams of the Netherlands and Cameroon and the main responsibility at Curacao, Kluivert is well acquainted with the national team arena.
