Chelsea are ready for a busy January.

The London club are open to offers for six of their first-team stars to raise money to buy a centre-back. Chelsea, who are on the Premier League’s watch list for possible breaches of financial rules, will have to be careful in the next few windows to avoid being punished.

It has been a decent start for Chelsea under new boss Enzo Maresca as they are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table. The Blues are four points behind Nottingham Forest and Arsenal and are 10 behind leaders Liverpool.

In recent weeks, Chelsea have dropped points to the likes of Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town, Fulham and Everton as their hopes of winning the Premier League title begin to fade.

To make matters worse, they are currently a little thin at the back with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana ruled out due to injury.

With the January transfer window open, it has been claimed that Chelsea could be open to selling as many as six first-team players to raise money for a new centre-back.

As reported by The Telegraph, the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Carney Chukwuemeka, Axel Disasi, Cesare Casadei, Ben Chilwell and Christopher Nkunku are all in surplus and Chelsea will be open to offers for them.

At the top of Chelsea’s wish list is Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi.

Chelsea sold Marc Guehi to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021 for €23.4 million, Transfermarkt believes his value is now up to €45 million, a possible sale will cost much more!.

The report said: “Guehi is one of a number of defenders Chelsea are considering and it is believed that the club has checked Crystal Palace’s valuation of the player.”

However, it must be said that signing their former player, who was at the club from 2007-2021, can be difficult and expensive, but it has “yet to be discounted”.

Speaking about Fofana last week, Blues boss Maresca stated that the Frenchman could be out for the rest of the season.

He said, “Unfortunately, he may be out this season. We don’t know exactly, but he could be out for part of the season. Every time you ask me about Wes, I said many times that I am in love with Wes.

“It was the first update and the first information we had, but after having a test, we realized that it was worse than what we thought at the beginning. It’s hoarding and unfortunately we’re going to lose him for a while.”
