Former Manchester United manager and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has emerged as a target for the same managerial job.

Ten Hag was sacked in the autumn after doing a lousy job for Manchester United, while Henry is still out of contract after leading France to a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics.

As for Henry, he signed a two-year deal to manage France’s U21 team but resigned from his position after the Paris Olympics

“Winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games for my country will remain one of the greatest prides of my life,” he said in a statement.

“I am incredibly grateful to the federation, the players, the staff and the supporters who allowed me to have a magical experience.”

Surprisingly, they are both relevant for the Belgian national team

But Ten Hag and Henry could return to management, with both names emerging as options for the Belgian national team.

That’s according to Joueurs Belges, who claims leaders from the Belgian Football Federation are “pushing internally” for the appointment of Henry, who was assistant coach of the Red Devils during the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.

The Arsenal icon, 47, began his managerial career with AS Monaco before taking charge of MLS club Montreal Impact.

His last two managerial jobs have taken place on the international stage, and Belgium hope to secure him as their next national team manager.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, has previously been linked with a Champions League club, having never managed an international team in his managerial career.

The Dutchman made his name at Ajax before being hired by Man United.

Mark Van Bommel, who has managed PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and Royal Antwerp, is also in the running.

According to the report, a decision is expected to be made by the end of the month.
