Arsenal offered the chance to sign two big names in January as Mikel Arteta confirms that the club wants to improve the squad. The Gunners suffered another setback at the weekend after Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL injury.
Arsenal have been offered two high-profile names to “fix their attacking problems” after Mikel Arteta confirmed that they are “actively” looking to bring in reinforcements in the January window.
The Gunners suffered a major blow on Sunday after it was confirmed that Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL injury against Manchester United. He will probably miss the rest of the season.
Captain Martin Ødegaard is actively involved in the work of finding goalscorers he can feed with lace passes.
Jesus joins Ben White, Ethan Nwaneri, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka on the sidelines, with the latter expected to be out until the end of February or March.
Arsenal are currently lacking attacking options as a result, and earlier in the week Mikel Arteta made it clear that they had to do something, even though they are still one of Europe’s strongest clubs.
“We are actively looking in the market to improve the squad. It’s been like that since day one,” he said ahead of the North London derby. – Arsenal won 2 – 1 with an assist from Martin Ødegaard, a game that lifted them to 2nd place in the Premier League.
“It would be naïve not to do it. It’s an opportunity to improve the squad. We’re looking. We try. Let’s see what we can do.”
Earlier this week, Arsenal were heavily linked with a long-term target of Martin Zubimendi, although Real Sociedad have reportedly insisted that the player stay until the end of the season.
A loan deal for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has also been mentioned,
But now a report from the Mail suggests that Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani and Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman in January.
PSG are said to want to include a £50 million “purchase obligation” in any potential loan deal for Kolo Muani, which has deterred Arsenal and Manchester United from making a move as they believe the sum is too expensive.
Arsenal are admirers of Coman, who has a long list of trophies behind him, but his fee and salary demands are also considered to be excessive.
In fact, the north London club are “unsure” about both Muani and Coman, with question marks over their value in the current market.
