He was fired after a bad autumn two years later. By then, he had led Manchester United to a second and third place in the Premier League. – Results the club can look far for now.

Solskjaer has been linked with several managerial jobs since he was sacked from Manchester United, but he has yet to take a job.

However, Sports Digitale and Sportbible claim that Solskjaer is about to become the new manager of Besiktas. – He is expected to watch Besiktas’ game against Samsunspor on Saturday from the stands before taking charge of their Europa League match against Athletic Bilbao on January 22.

If Solskjaer does indeed join Besiktas, he could face Manchester United as both teams are involved in this season’s Europa League campaign. The Turkish giants have won just two of their six preliminary European matches and are in 28th place.

In the case of Manchester United, they are in seventh place, which is an automatic qualification position.

Solskjaer will then also meet Jose Mourinho, who is the manager of Fenerbahce.

Besiktas have been without a permanent manager since Giovanni van Bronckhorst was released at the end of November. Serdar Topraktepe has led the team on an interim basis.

He spent over three years in Molde before he was hired by Cardiff. He then returned to Molde before returning to Man United as manager, after having had a legendary playing career at the club.
