Jorge Sampaoli is the prototype of what we associate with an angry Argentine manager. – The 64-year-old was brought in in November to “save” the French club Rennes. – A few months before, Bodø/Glimt had cashed in big on the sale of Albert Grønbæk.

Sampaoli has not been able to turn things around for the French club who are still struggling near the relegation zone in Ligue 1.

As Albert Grønbæk knows very well, it is much more fun to win than to lose. Kjetil Knutsen has built up a winning culture that is inclusive in Bodø/Glimt, while Jorge Sampaoli has a “My Way or the Highway” type attitude. – That highway can lead directly back to Aspmyra.

In September, Albert Grønbæk boasted about Bodø/Glimt and Norwegian clubs in front of a full Danish press corps. By then, the 23-year-old had surprisingly played his way to a place in the Danish national team squad – and impressed. Much of the cred just got Glimt and the Eliteserien. Grønbæk was signed by Ligue 1 club Rennes in the summer, where Glimt had been the big springboard for the Dane. In the space of a few months, everything has turned around.

Albert Grønbæk is unwanted and the 23-year-old who played for two seasons (2022 to 2024) for Bodø/Glimt (2022 to 2024) also wants to move on.

Because already in November came the unpleasant surprise for Grønbæk. Rennes dumped the coach. Not new unusual in this, but the Ligue 1 club brought in bulldozer Jorge Sampaoli. At the same time, the club president has publicly said he wants players gone, who are not suitable for the club.

It is the Rennes coach who takes care of the announcement.

“It’s a personal decision on his (Grønbæk’s) part. He has expressed that he wants to go. He has never found his place here at the club and is not happy,” Sampiola said at a press conference.

This week, Bodø/Glimt brought Jens Petter Hauge permanently “home”. Albert Grønbæk is “in theory” very soon available for the same. After all, it was at Aspmyra that it was fun to play football for the Dane.

(we happily ignore the fact that the French are probably demanding large parts of the approximately 15 million euros they paid Bodø/Glimt for the Dane)
