Luton Town are second to last after 29 games, they have only 26 points. – But it is only three points away from safety, so it is not an impossible task. – The three games that Matt Bloomfield has been in charge of have not gone so well, with a draw and two defeats.

“It’s been a pleasure to see this club grow in recent years, so I can’t wait to be a part of it now,” says Thelo Aasgaard.

“I’ve been at Wigan since I was quite young and I’ve had a lot of good memories from there, so the next step had to be the right one. It had to be special, and I feel like this is the right place to be.

Thelo Aasgaard will be ready to play for Saturday’s away clash at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday.

Aasgaard thanks fans, teammates and management at Wigan.

Assists attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard has become the Hatters’ last signing of the January transfer window, joining for an undisclosed sum from Wigan Athletic.

After spending time in Liverpool’s academy, Thelo joined Wigan in 2016 and came through the ranks of the Lancashire club.

He made his Wigan debut as a 19-year-old in October 2020 and has since scored 30 times in 163 appearances for the Latics – including a stunning win against us at Kenilworth Road in September 2022 and a brilliant volley in the two sides’ FA Cup replay meeting later that season.

“I’m going to try to add goals from midfield and give that creative spark and bring my teammates into the game. I’ve played pretty much every minute of every game at Wigan, so I’m ready to go. I’m physically good, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Manager Matt Bloomfield said: “We are delighted to bring Thelo to Kenilworth Road, he is a player who has always stood out in League One but has experience in the Championship.

“He’s a player that I’ve had my eye on from afar for a while. He is technically very, very good and can create and score goals.

“Thelo can play as a 10, but can play as an eight or left, so he is adept at playing in a variety of positions.

“The board has been incredibly supportive in this process, and I would like to thank them for making Thelo’s signing a reality.

“He’s a player who will bring immediate quality to the group and also comes with a lot of potential, so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do as a Luton Town player.”
