In March, Paul Pogba can put on a match shirt again. The doping ban has been served and the French world champion has made it clear that he will not hide away in the backyard league, but is aiming for Champions League games. The Ligue 1 club, which this season is in a good position to reclaim the Champions League ticket after the bitter 8th place in the league last season, opens the door for Pogba.
Marseille, with Roberto de Zerbi at the helm, has been linked with Pogba for the past month. The sporting director does not hide the fact that the 31-year-old could be part of the Marseille squad, just not quite yet.
“We thought about it, and we wanted to do it. The problem is that he is not fit yet, and therefore it does not make much sense to bet on him this season,” Marseill director Medhi Benatia begins according to L’Equipe.
“If the opportunity arises next season, we would be happy if a player like Pogba could lend a helping hand,” says the sporting director.
This means a potential reunion for top scorer Mason Greenwood with United mentor Pogba. This could be dynamite!
