Jonathan Tah has been at Bayer Leverkusen for half an eternity, but it is under Xabi Alonso that the 29-year-old has really made the step up to the top shelf. Leverkusen are working hard to persuade the defender to extend, Bayern Munich are following the tradition of taking their Bundesliga rivals’ key players and opening the door, while Barcelona are working hard to tempt soon-to-be-free agent Tah with Hansi Flick football and wear the iconic Barca shirt.
Now it should all be settled, claims Mundo Deportivo.
In the summer, Barcelona tried to sign Tah, but Leverkusen gave the thumbs down. On December 11, when Barcelona was in Germany for a match against Borussia Dortmund, there was reportedly a meeting between Barca and Tah’s agent. The Spanish media claims the centre-back has made the decision on the next step. This will be Barcelona, where Tah is said to have turned down a very lucrative offer from Bayern Munich.
In the summer, the captain will have worn the Leverkusen shirt for 10 years, at least the club will not have to face its legend in the Bundesliga on the other side of the midfield at Bayern Munich.
