Cesc Fabregas’ Serie A adventure as coach of newly promoted Como has been quite a journey so far for the Premier League legend. Big stars flocked to Como to play for Fabregas, while the transition to the top division was tough for the newcomer. Now Fabregas has set the game and gave Fiorentina and David de Gea a shock.

Fiorentina hosted Como at home in search of a Champions League ticket in Serie A. David de Gea joined the club in the summer as a free agent and has been instrumental in the club’s great success so far in the season.

De Gea had only conceded 22 goals in 21 games, 7 clean sheets. This Sunday, Fabregas’ players outsmarted both Fiorentina and what has been one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers by far this season.

2-0 says to Como in the sixth and biggest win of the season this season. For Fabregas, the shock win means 13th place and five points on the right side of the transfer line. For De Gea and Fiorentina, three lost points that give Lazio in 4th place a four-point lead.

Bad for De Gea, but football needs surprises like that.
