On Thursday, the Europa League’s knockout playoff round came to an end. Now the real fun begins, on Friday the matches for the round of 8 were drawn. Bodø/Glimt face a team that has changed coaches at an insane pace in recent years.
Olympiakos tops the Greek league, but is what you might call a chaos club (asks Philip Zinckernagel). Since August 2022, the club has had 5 different coaches plus 2 substitutes. José Luis Mendilibar is last on the list, he has managed to keep his job for a whole year by leading Olympiakos to the Europa League and to the top of the domestic league.
We’re guessing the Olympiakos team has pulled out the atlas and shockingly followed the finger to the top of the page to find the next destination in the Europa League. The shock certainly didn’t diminish after watching the 5-2 draw against FC Twente and realizing what awaits them.
Here are the rest of the games:
- Bodø/Glimt – Olympiakos
- Ajax – Frankfurt
- Alkmaar – Tottenham
- Viktoria Plzeň – Lazio
- Fenerbahce – Rangers
- FCSB – Lyon
- Real Sociedad – Manchester United
- Roma – Athletic Club
