Despite being regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, Courtois has been absent from the national team due to his earlier standoff with previous coach Domenico Tedesco. His frustration stemmed from being overlooked for the captaincy, which led to a breakdown in his relationship with the coaching staff.
However, Belgium parted ways with Tedesco earlier in the year, bringing in Rudi Garcia as a direct replacement, sparking speculation that Courtois could return to the squad.

Although Belgium has no shortage of talented goalkeepers, having someone of Courtois’ calibre could significantly bolster the team’s morale.
“I missed the national team, but now I’m ready to go back” – said the keeper during his podcast with Rio Ferdinand.

Despite Belgium having several capable goalkeepers, the consensus is that having one of the world’s best goalkeepers back in the squad would be a major advantage.
The last time Courtois featured for Belgium was in June 2023. His absence had left a notable void in the team, especially considering his vast experience and leadership qualities.
