Manchester United are in a squeeze. Not only sportingly, but also financially. In order to manoeuvre back and within the rules of profitable and sustainable club operations, the club must sell players to meet the necessity of some solid reinforcements. At the top of the must-have list is a striker who scores. Now it is reported by Italian media that United have composed a deal that will solve two problems.

One is to send Rasmus Hojlund on without losing too much of the 73.9 million euros invested, the other is to sign one of the market’s best strikers. Not a twenty-something-year-old with potential, but the player who takes it for granted that he delivers goals, season after season.

Several candidates are linked to United, one of the strongest links goes to Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker scores Galatasaray to the league title on loan from Napoli. Rasmus Hojlund still has a high status in Serie A after his deliveries for Atalanta, Napoli have expressed their interest in the Danish international.

According to talkSport, a swap is still complicated, with Napoli expecting full payment for Osimhen. Now there are reports of the offer from United that could speed up the negotiations.

Because according to Calcomercato, Manchester United have sent signals they are not willing to pay Osimhen’s buyout clause of 75 million euros, but open up for Rasmus Hojlund plus 40 million euros to bring super striker Osimhen to Old Trafford.

Despite challenges at United, Hojlund is valued at a market value of €60 million (transfermarkt), still only 22 years young, full of potential for a bunch of seasons. The buyout clause for Osimhen is 75 million euros, United offer 40 million euros in cash. This values Højlund at 35 million euros in this deal. So, a potential big upside for Napoli.

For Manchester United, an Osimhen signing will create a completely different dynamic in the United attack, where the club will once again have a striker at the top who scores from all angles, on the ground and flying in the air.

This also sounds like an offer that leaves the Napoli management and Conte with the experience of exiting the trade as the winner.
