Manchester United have reportedly drawn up a three-man list of potential replacements for Ruben Amorim amid their worrying recent run of form.
The Red Devils have 11 wins, three draws and 10 losses in 24 games since Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP, and they are as low as 14th in the Premier League table.
The sacking of Erik ten Hag in October has had very little effect, and Amorim’s insistence on sticking to a 3-4-3 system has seen him heavily criticised in recent months.
The new Red Devils boss even recently admitted that his team is “perhaps the worst team in Manchester United history” and questions about his future at Old Trafford have been raised following their penalty shootout against Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday.
Unai Emery and Xavi have both been linked with replacing Amorim at Man Utd, but INEOS has now chosen three fresh names in their search for a possible new manager, according to a sensational report from Fichajes.
The Spanish outlet claims that Massimiliano Allegri, Julen Lopetegui and Joachim Low have all been touted as potential successors to Amorim at Old Trafford.
Allegri has been out of work since leaving Juventus last summer, Lopetegui was sacked by West Ham United in January, while Low resigned from his position as national team manager for Germany in 2021 and has not coached at club level since 2004.
Despite this, Man Utd have reportedly identified the trio as potential replacements for Amorim.
What has Ruben Amorim said?
After Man Utd’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in February, Amorim was asked if he was worried about his future at the club. “I’m not worried,” he told Match of the Day.
“I understand our fans, what the media thinks about it. I hate to lose, that feeling is the worst. The rest I don’t think about. I’m here to help my players.
“I understand my situation, my job, I’m confident in my work and I just want to win games. The place in the table is my concern, I’m not worried about me.”
