Dejan Lovren was asked last month about his mate Mo Salah’s future at Liverpool. The Croatian brick player played with the Egyptian in 2017-20 and still keeps in close contact with Salah. When asked about Salah, Lovren replied that it is closer to exit Anfield than a continuation. At the same time, Salah has reiterated in recent months that he would prefer to continue in the red shirt. This week, reports come from Spain that Salah’s agent has made an offer.

It is Spanish Diario Sport that claims Salah is now flirting with Barcelona, where there is said to have been contact with the La Liga giant. Nothing surprising in this, Salah is free to negotiate with other clubs, but the Spanish media’s “Salah has offered his services to Barcelona”, is jarring. That the La Liga giant will be able to meet the salary demand for the 32-year-old, it is totally unlikely.

It is Salah’s wage demand that keeps Liverpool still away from the signing table. An exit to Barcelona, who are struggling to keep their wage budget within the rules for profitable and sustainable club operations, will not happen. Then Salah would rather end up jacking down his wage demand at Anfield.
