The Danish midfield star Christian Eriksen only has a few weeks left on his contract with Manchester United. – It is now reasonably clear that there will be no extension and if we are to believe what he says well back home in Denmark, football in England is not relevant either. Now, after almost three, reasonably turbulent years at Old Trafford, he is ready for something new.
At his peak, back in 2019 before his heart problems and as a Tottenham player, the 33-year-old was worth €100 million, according to Transfermarkt.
Christian Eriksen is ready to leave Manchester United: Rejects the Super League
“I’ll have to see where the next project is, but the plan is neither to stay in England, go to the US or to Denmark,” says Christian Eriksen to Danish Bold, who is otherwise open to most things.
There has been talk of the United States and MLS because of Mauricio Pochettino, who was his manager at Tottenham at the peak of Christian Eriksen’s career.
“I have prepared myself mentally to find something new. Where it will be, I don’t know yet, but I am free on the market, and I have not experienced that before. I was free after the heart event, but it was a slightly different situation,” says Christian Eriksen in the national team camp in Elsinore. “I still feel like I have a few good years left abroad. Football-wise, I don’t feel like I’m in a place where I want to move back home to Denmark and play in the Superliga”.
Christian Eriksen is aiming for other challenges.
Many players choose to travel to the United States, would you like that?
“We will not travel that far. I would like to stay in Europe and continue playing
Could you imagine continuing in England?
“It’s not my first priority to stay in England. But as I said, I’m open to most things, but as I said, we’re not going to move back home to Denmark at this time,” says Christian Eriksen, who has been very happy with his time at Manchester United.
“Even though it has been a turbulent time at the club, I have been very happy to be at the club. It has been fun and interesting to experience being close to the events in a big club like Manchester United.
“I feel that I have taken the chances I have been given along the way,” Christian Eriksen points out.
