Alexander Isak has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United.

According to reports, Liverpool could be willing to use two players in a spectacular swap to secure Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. It has been reported that Liverpool are likely to be active in the summer transfer window after only signing Federico Chiesa last year.

Players such as Darwin Núñez, Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz have all been linked with a move away from Anfield.

At the same time, Trent Alexander-Arnold is claimed to be close to a move to Real Madrid, while Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also have contracts that expire in the summer.

As a result, Liverpool have been linked with names like Isak, Miloš Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

It is reported that Newcastle will demand at least €180 million for Isak, which could be a problem for Liverpool.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool could consider including players plus money in a bidding round for the striker.

Last summer, it was suggested that Newcastle were close to signing Joe Gomez, and teammate Jarell Quansah was “mentioned as a possible weight factor when Liverpool tried to lure Anthony Gordon away from St. James’ Park”. Both defenders could now be used as part of a deal to bring Isak to Anfield.

Isak among the summer’s most sought-after players

Isak will be one of the most sought-after players this summer after impressive performances for Newcastle.

So far in the 2024/25 season, the Swedish international has scored 23 goals and provided five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated earlier this month:
Arsenal want Isak, (Benjamin) Šeško is the other name on the list. Liverpool are also interested in Alexander Isak and have already made contact with people around the player.

He continued:
“Both clubs are interested in Alexander Isak. For Arsenal, he is the absolute top target, while Liverpool are considering him among several options in that position.

“We’ll see what Newcastle will do, because they insist they want to keep him. But when large amounts are on the table, it is also about Financial Fair Play and things like that.

Will the swap strengthen Newcastle?

If Liverpool include Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah in a deal, it could help Newcastle strengthen a problem position – central defence. The Magpies have had challenges defensively, and both players can give them more stability at the back.

Thus, such a deal could be a win for both clubs: Liverpool get a top striker, while Newcastle get both money and defensive reinforcements.

But with such a high price for Isak, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to match Newcastle’s demands.
