The picture of Zlatan Ibrahimovic dominates the front page of an Italian newspaper on Friday, but at the training facility at AC Milan, there has been little to see of Zlatan. Strange, in that he has been heavily involved since last year as a hired advisor, or as Zlatan put it: The boss who makes the sporting decisions at Milan.
Out of the Champions League after losing to Feyenoord. Down to an embarrassing 9th place in Serie A after 29 games. Last season, the club finished in second place, the season before that in 4th place, the 2021/22 season as league champion. This was on Zlatan’s watch.

Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport reported that Zlatan will get a new role at AC Milan, still as an advisor, but without a mandate to make decisions about the squad and coach.
La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Zlatan has now not been at Milan’s training facility for three weeks. First due to illness, but the Swede should be back in shape. Coaching legend Fabio Capello thinks the whole story is strange.
“At the beginning of the season, I heard Ibrahimovic say with my own ears that he was the boss and ruled over everyone else. In theory, he was Cardinale’s (owner’s) operational arm. Now I read that it is Furlan (Giorgio, CEO). From the outside, it feels like there is a bit of confusion, who is really in charge now? Above all, who is to blame for all the missteps so far? The players in the market, the coaches, who chose them?”, says Capello according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
