Fans react to Manchester United’s social media posts immediately after Anthony Elanga scores against his former club at the City Ground.

A United corner kick was nodded hard out by Ryan Yates, and Elanga sped from his own 16-yard line. He led the ball at a high pace, pulled off Alejandro Garnacho and sped towards Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui. Just inside the 16-meter line, he shot hard and low into the corner, just before Dorgu reached with his tackle foot.
Elanga’s solo run was measured at 85 meters over nine seconds.
ANTHONY ELANGA, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE! ⚡ 👏
Fans have reacted on social media after seeing what Manchester United’s official account posted after Anthony Elanga’s goal.
On Tuesday night, Rúben Amorim’s “Red Devils” travelled to the City Ground to face an up-and-coming Nottingham Forest.
Nuno Espírito Santos’ side were looking to continue their good form after securing a place in the FA Cup semi-finals at the weekend. After five minutes, the home fans were ecstatic when former United player Elanga ran all over the pitch to put Forest in the lead.
It was an impressive display of speed and strength from the Swedish international, who avoided an attempt from Alejandro Garnacho before placing the ball in the bottom corner.
After Elanga scored, United’s official social media account wrote: “Goal. The hosts take the lead.”
Fans reacted to the post and wondered why they didn’t mention the goalscorer, who previously played for United.
One fan said, “Who scored?”
Another tweeted: “And who scores? The one that should never have been sold…”
A third fan added, “Who scored, admin? Mention his name. A shameless club that lets an academy player with talent leave.”

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Andy Reid praised Elanga during the broadcast on BBC Radio 5 Live: “This is simply unbelievable from Anthony Elanga. Alejandro Garnacho tried to keep up, but Elanga shook him off. With his left foot, he has hammered it into the bottom corner. What a goal.”
Elanga moved to Forest from United in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of around £15 million.
After joining United’s academy in 2014, Elanga made his first-team debut in 2021 and made a total of 55 appearances for United, scoring four goals.
Since joining Forest, the 22-year-old has so far scored 11 goals in 73 appearances.
