Only 14 players have historically scored more goals than Leicester veteran Jamie Vardy in the Premier League. The 38-year-old could be on his way away from the club he has been central to since 2012. As it stands, two clubs are said to want to increase his goalscorer stats in the Premier League.

Premier League winner Jamie Vardy could finally be on his way away from Leicester City, nine years after he led them to a legendary title.

Jamie Vardy could stay in the Premier League

Vardy turned 38 in January, but is still considered a viable option for Premier League clubs in need of a striker in the summer transfer window.

Despite Vardy’s presence, Leicester on Monday night became the first team in English football history to lose eight home games in a row without scoring. Relegation to the Championship is now almost inevitable, and the club’s iconic striker will be linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.

Free player with a lot of experience

Vardy will be on a free transfer this summer, and according to former Watford striker Troy Deeney, he should be able to find a new club in the top flight.

“At his age, it’s a bit of a gamble, but Jamie is in a unique position because there are so few natural nines in the world, let alone the Premier League,” Deeney told talkSPORT Breakfast.

“I can see him doing well at Everton or West Ham.

Everton and West Ham two possible destinations

Both clubs have escaped the relegation battle after coaching changes this season, thanks in part to Leicester’s poor performances. However, they both have a lack of goals from their strikers and will no doubt be looking for a new attacking player this summer.

“Jamie is one of those players you hate to face, but love to have on your team because he does all the ‘dirty’ jobs,” Deeney added.

“Let’s take West Ham as an example. They have Fullkrug and will surely bring in another striker. Then Jamie Vardy as third or second choice is fantastic.

A Living Legend

Vardy is a member of the Premier League’s exclusive “100 Club” – only 14 players have scored more than his 143 goals in the league. Only Thierry Henry has scored more goals for a single club.

“He’s won the Premier League, played in Europe and for England – it’s a fantastic experience to get into the squad,” Deeney concluded.

With the relegation clear, one of the Premier League’s most charismatic players could now face a final chapter in the top flight.
