Earlier on Monday, rumours began to trickle out from the Welsh club. Later in the evening, the confirmation came. Of all the British clubs Luka Modric could choose from to invest in, the choice fell on Swansea City.

The proud club, established in 1912, is currently in 12th place in the Championship, but Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric clearly sees greater potential. On the club’s website, it is confirmed that the Real Madrid icon has invested in the club and become a part-owner.

Modric will actively help lift the club on and off the pitch and create more buzz around Swansea globally.

“It’s an exciting opportunity. Swansea has a strong identity, a fantastic fan base and the ambition to compete at the highest level. Having played at the highest level, I think my experience can help the club. My goal is to support the club’s development in a positive way and to create an exciting future,” Luka Modric told the club’s website.

Wow, this is going to be exciting to follow!
