The former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea star who almost landed in Norway at the end of his career, in Start if I remember correctly, is a man for Serie A club Como.

Como, who are newcomers to Serie A, are not doing as badly as the experts predicted before the season. After the weekend’s game at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia where they won 1 – 0 over Torino, they have a full 12 points down to Venice in the first relegation place.

Cesc Fabregas is so new as a manager that in the beginning he had to be a “shadow manager” while he took the necessary coaching education to be able to manage a Serie A club. Now the 37-year-old, who was one of the best midfielders of his generation, has also started to prove he has qualities as a leader and manager.

There are always plenty of stars in the stadium when Como plays. Here we see Jeff Goldblum, AJ Tracey, Terry Crews and Mark Strong, among others. – He does not get such attendance in the Bundesliga.

In July 2023, he was appointed coach of Como’s U19 and B teams, before temporarily taking over as first-team coach in November of the same year. He then served as assistant to Osain Roberts, before being promoted to permanent head coach in August 2024. (shadow coach)

The Spaniard has led Como to a 13th-place finish in Serie A – a feat that can be considered successful, as this is the club’s first season in the Italian top flight.

Now, reports have surfaced that a Bundesliga club is interested in signing him, after they fired their head coach at the end of March.

The club at the forefront is RB Leipzig, who recently parted ways with now former head coach Marco Rose.

According to German media outlet BILD, Leipzig have identified Fabregas as a potential candidate to fill the coaching vacancy, although Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is also linked with the job.

Of course, former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp could influence the decision, as he is Red Bull’s “Head of Global Soccer”.

It is unclear whether Fabregas is willing to take on the role in Germany at this point.

The former Arsenal player has learned from the best, having played under Arsène Wenger, Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Luis Aragonés and Vicente del Bosque.

“I try to talk to people who have been in the industry for a long time,” Fabregas told The Coaches’ Voice in 2023. “My goal is to get better, so I want to discuss and debate. I want to absorb ideas from people around me. This is something I’m really passionate about.”

“As a coach, most of it is about how you convince your players to play your way,” he added. “I strongly believe in it. As I now think about implementing my own ideas and methodology as a coach, a lot will come from Arsène. For me, he was the best on the field. I came to Arsenal as a 16-year-old, and from such a young age he taught me and trusted me enough to give me a place in the team. He made me see football on a whole other level.”
