Paul Pogba is not looking for a return to the Premier League, but several of Europe’s top leagues appeal to him. The 2018 world champion has been clubless since his contract with Juventus was terminated last year, following a doping conviction.

Pogba’s career is at stake

His original four-year penalty was reduced to just 18 months, meaning Pogba could have signed for a club in January and returned to the pitch in March.

Despite strong rumours of a move to Marseille, no deal was ever made. The club’s president Pablo Longoria and coach Roberto de Zerbi considered him, but concluded that it was not suitable for the club.

There has also been speculation about a surprise return to Manchester United or a switch to rivals Manchester City, but Pogba remains a free agent for now.

Bundesliga, La Liga or Ligue 1?

Sky Germany has now given an update on the situation and reports that the 32-year-old Frenchman is open to playing in the Bundesliga. In general, Pogba is interested in remaining in one of Europe’s top leagues, such as the Bundesliga, La Liga or Ligue 1.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Pogba hopes to receive an offer from Germany, Spain or Italy, although clubs have so far been somewhat hesitant.

A return to England or Italy is not on the cards at the moment. Pogba is also open to a possible game in MLS or the Saudi Arabian professional league, but according to transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio, he prefers to stay in Europe.

Staying in shape – can he reach the top again?

The experienced midfielder is currently staying fit in Miami and is desperate to return to professional football for the new season. France national team coach Didier Deschamps still believes Pogba can reach his best level again.

“We have a strong relationship after everything we have experienced together. He has the mental strength to get back to the top level, but it’s his career – it’s up to him to decide,” Deschamps told Telefoot last week.
