It is difficult to see how it will be possible for Jürgen Klopp, who has won the Champions League with Liverpool and the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, to turn down the world’s most winning club, Real Madrid, if the opportunity arises.

Throughout this season, there have also been question marks over the future of Carlo Ancelotti, who earlier today claimed that whatever result of Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabeu will affect whether he continues as manager next season.

Arsenal leads 3 – 0 before the clash against Real Madrid at 2100 tonight.

Carlo Ancelotti is speculated to be in his position – if the season turns out to be a disappointment. The Italian has a contract until the summer of 2026. Recently, the Spanish online newspaper Relevo wrote that the manager risks being fired if “Los Blancos” do not take a major title in May.

Now, Spanish newspaper Sport reports that former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is “gaining ground” among Real Madrid’s management as a possible alternative to replace Ancelotti. Klopp was also linked with Real Madrid a few years ago, and is naturally considered a manager who can come in with great impact and considerable freedom of action at the big club.

At the same time, Sport writes that it is not easy for Real Madrid to sign Klopp, even though the German’s self-chosen “sabbatical” from the coaching job will soon be over. Klopp was appointed global head of football at the Red Bull Group earlier this year, and he is said to thrive in that role – although an offer from Real Madrid could also be tempting.

Previously, Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has also been mentioned as a candidate to take over from Ancelotti. But according to Sport, Real Madrid’s management has started to have doubts after a slightly weaker season in Germany. Leverkusen won the Bundesliga last year, but are currently in second place in the league.
