David Ornstein of The Athletic confirms Norwegian reports that the Birmingham-based club are confident that they can secure the signature of the exciting 18-year-old.
Although Villa are yet to agree personal terms with the young midfielder, they are working hard to complete the signing and get ahead of other interested clubs.
Aston Villa have now caught up with Arsenal in the battle for Nypan, and Ornstein reports that there is “optimism” at Villa Park that they can pull off this “coup”.

Nypan on his way to Aston Villa
Nypan is considered one of the greatest talents in European football. The Norwegian has played regularly in the Eliteserien for Rosenborg since he was 16 years old.
Arsenal were confident of signing him after positive talks in January, but the player ultimately chose not to move mid-season. Girona, which is owned by City Football Group, was also in talks about a signing with a view to a future move to Manchester City.
Ornstein does not mention how much Villa will have to pay to secure Nypan, but it is clear that they are in the process of completing a very exciting deal.
Nypan scored his first goal of the Norwegian season earlier in April, after netting eight goals and providing ten assists last year. He has been compared to compatriot Martin Ødegaard, but he will soon have the opportunity to make his own history in the Premier League.
