Manchester United have had a consistent problem in recent seasons with scoring at the top. At the end of the chaotic second leg against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals, Ruben Amorim did something very surprising – and what turned out to be two brilliant moves.
In the 109th minute, Lacazette scored 3-4 at Old Trafford by penalty. Manchester United supporters squirmed in the stands and in the pubs around the stadium. Not again! Then the two United players came out on top with goals in the 120th and 120+1 minutes to win and advance in an absolutely incredible finish.

The very special thing was that the two at the top were midfielder Kobbie Mainoo and center back Harry Maguire.
Mainoo had replaced goalless Rasmus Højlund as no. 9 and got 33 minutes on the field, after the game Amorim explained the choice of the two at the top.
“We tried to put Harry Maguire in front because he is the only one who can score a goal with a header. Kobbie Mainoo has a lack of pace at this moment due to injury, but he is very good in small spaces,” Amorim said according to Goal.
For Manchester United, a victory that lifts the entire red part of the city, for the United management a sign that Ruben Amorim can lead the club to victory in the biggest and tightest games. We love it!
