Leeds manager Daniel Farke led his team up to the Premier League on Monday (21 April).

A former Premier League player believes Leeds United will sack Daniel Farke, despite the fact that the German has just led the West Yorkshire club to promotion from the Championship.

Farke, 48, confirmed that Leeds were promoted after Sheffield United lost to Burnley, after Leeds beat Stoke City 6-0 earlier in the day. “The way the guys have handled the last few weeks under this pressure, how we’ve performed, the team spirit, the quality of the performances and the consistency of the results – especially with so many goalless games in a row – has been absolutely top-notch,” Farke said after the win.

Both Leeds and Burnley will play in the 2025/26 Premier League, while the final promotion spot will be decided through the play-offs. Sheffield United, Sunderland, Bristol City and Coventry seem to be fighting for the last spot.

Despite Farke’s Leeds impressing with attacking football at Elland Road (89 goals in 44 games this season), former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has given talkSPORT some surprising words: “I was thinking about it last night: Daniel Farke has done a great job of getting Leeds United up”

“But we are in a brutal industry… Should Leeds change coach before the Premier League? I know it’s brutal, but Farke’s record in the Premier League is 49 games, six wins, 35 losses, 101 goals conceded and 31 scored.

“I’m just saying: Will Leeds stay in the Premier League this time? Farke hasn’t been able to do that before – he struggled as a coach. I’ll just tell it like it is: football is merciless.

“Look at the players – we go through Leeds’ squad and ask our guests: ‘How many of these will be told in the next few weeks that they are not wanted for next season?’

Although the statements seem harsh, the statistics do not speak in Farke’s favour when it comes to his previous results in the Premier League. He has only six wins, 35 losses and eight draws in 49 games from his time as Norwich City manager.
